Depression Cost Calculator

Depression is a common illness experienced by nearly one in ten Americans each year. Unfortunately, research indicates that about 50% of employees affected by major depression are undiagnosed, and usually go untreated. The good news is that treatment works: 70-80% of people with depression improve significantly with appropriate treatment, and almost all individuals receive some symptom relief and benefit from medical care.

The Depression Cost Calculator is a tool developed to help you estimate what this means to your company’s bottom line. Also known as the Productivity Impact Model, the calculator uses detailed algorithms based on established clinical research and applies them to your own workforce to determine the incidence of depression within your organization. The calculator then predicts the expected number of days each year your employees will be absent or suffer low productivity due to their depression, and the associated costs. Finally, the tool projects the net savings that will accrue with treatment of those employees suffering from depression.

The Partnership was pleased to help promote the depression calculator, developed by the HSM Group, Ltd. for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America.
