Played at Louisiana Tech and was the first player chosen in the 1970 NFL draft, picked by the Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Career Steeler from 1970-1983
    • Led the team to eight AFC Central and four Super Bowl titles
    • Named Most Valuable Player in Super Bowls XIII and XIV
  • Named 1978 Associated Press NFL Player of the Year
  • Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1989, his first year of eligibility
  • Co-host and analyst for “Fox NFL Sunday” and former NFL analyst/commentator for CBS Sports
  • Awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality/Studio Analyst in 1999 and 2001
  • Nominated for the Emmy for outstanding sports personality/studio analyst in 2002

Beyond the Gridiron

Authored several books, most recently “Keep it Simple” and “It’s Only a Game”

  • Holds honorary Doctor of Law degree from Alderson-Broaddus (WVA; 1979) and Doctor of Humanities degree from Louisiana Tech (1981)
  • Co-owner of FitzBradshaw Racing, of the NASCAR Busch Series
  • As a football legend, committed to speaking out about his experience with depression and Attention Deficit Disorder and encouraging others to seek help
  • Enjoys spending time with his two daughters
  • As an animal lover, cares for his three dogs and the horses on his ranch
  • In 2000, first professional athlete to receive a star on the Hollywood walk of fame
