Partnership for Workplace mental Health

Employer Resources

Mental illnesses are common and are experienced by an estimated 54 million Americans each year *.  They are the number one cause of low productivity in the workplace.  As an employer, one of the most important roles you have is to educate your employees that mental illnesses are real and affect not only their personal lives but their time in the workplace as well.  By investing in the mental health of your employees, you are investing in the productivity of your workplace.

> Disability and Return to Work Initiative
The current fragmented approach to psychiatric disability is costly to employers, debilitating for employees, troubling for clinicians, and frustrating for all. The Partnership has taken a major step toward remedying this situation by developing the Taskforce on Disability and Return to Work.

> Emergency Preparedness and Response
The events of September 11 prompted the recognition that trauma in people's lives must be taken seriously and that we must take steps to understand what we can do to protect and respond to the demands and stresses of this new world. Emergency situations have a profound affect on all aspects of life, including the workplace.

> How Mental Health Impacts the Bottom Line
Investing in your employees mental health is not only good for their personal lives, but for business as well. How much will you save by investing in the mental health of your employees?

> Evaluate Your Health Plan
The National Business Coalition on Health developed eValue8, the leading evidence-based Request For Information (RFI), to help health care purchasers select health plans by taking quality -- not just cost -- into consideration. eValue8 is an online tool that business coalitions, their purchaser members and national employers can use to assess and manage the quality of health care vendors.

The Partnership is pleased to help spread the word about eValue8 because it emphasizes the importance of evaluating behavioral health services by including modules on depression and alcohol.
